- Get an e-mail to SMS app. One can use this one:
- Your e-mail system
- Setup an e-mail address to send notifications to: e.g.emailtosms@yourdomain.com
- E-mail to SMS app
- Give the app your details for the e-mail account so it can check for new e-mail
- Atera
- Setup an e-mail template containing the info you want to use
- If you are using the mentioned app, the subject needs to be: ets: mobilenumber, mobilenumber (replace mobile number with your mobile(s) number(s) )
- Atera uses a colon ( : ) so to do this in exchange using a transport rule to prepend ets: to the start of any messages from Atera to the emailtosms@ address
- The subject line is just the mobile numbers you want to SMS to separated with a comma ( , )
- The body is what it is being sent.
- We use two templates.
- New and update body text for us looks like this.
- New {[Ticket Portal Link]}
- Update {[Ticket Portal Link]}
- New and update body text for us looks like this.
- Create an automation rule
- Name it > describe it > event = new ticket or update > then add it
- Under actions > Send an e-mail > select the matching template > value is then emailtosms@yourdomain.com
- Name it > describe it > event = new ticket or update > then add it
- Setup an e-mail template containing the info you want to use
And that should do it!
To recap:
- New ticket raised
- Automation rule sends e-mail using template to emailtosms@
- App on phone reads e-mail
- App then sends SMS message to alert you
- Open link in e-mail to view the ticket
FYI: You could also achieve the same thing using an e-mail to SMS service rather than using a mobile phone
Thank you Dave Webster for sending this over and for your contribution to the Atera community!
