Reviewing patch installation failure feedback is a quick way to uncover what went wrong. Once you've got the details, you can easily reinstall patches across all your devices, helping to get everything back on track and running smoothly.
Review and reinstall failed patches
To review failed patches on your Windows devices, check the error code and description (along with any mitigation steps, if available) to understand what went wrong. If no details are provided, or if you're reinstalling patches on Mac or Linux devices, you can still proceed with the installation.
To review failure feedback and reinstall patches:
1. Go to Patch Management.
2. From the Action Center (top right), click Failed OS patches.
The OS patches tab appears.
3. Select the patches.
The OS patch window appears, displaying the affected devices.
2. In the Installation status column, hover over the information icon to view patch failure feedback for a Windows device (error code, description, and mitigation steps).
Note: If a description and/or mitigation isn't displayed, we recommend searching the error code online to troubleshoot the issue.
3. Select the patch installation preference and devices. Then click Install.
The installation request is sent to the selected agents. See the Recent Processes report for details.
