By default, the Agent name in Atera is the same as the machine name that the Agent was installed on. To better manage your Agents, you should apply a more meaningful name that relates to the company the Agent belongs to.
If you change the hostname of one of your devices, please note that the name in Splashtop will not change automatically. You will need to run a script on the device. For more details, please refer to the article below.
Modify agent name
1. From the left-hand panel, click Devices, and click on the agent that you want to rename.
The Agent page appears.
2. Click on the name of the agent and insert your desired name.
All done, the name has been changed and a notification will appear in the snack bar.
Note: If the Agent Name and Machine Name do not match you must update the Agent Name to match the Machine Name before updating the Computer Name / Server Name on the machine itself. Both fields are case-sensitive. Learn how to modify the Agent Name
4. Modify the Computer Name / Server Name.
For Windows 10:

- Click Start
> Settings
> System > About
- Click Rename this PC.
- Enter a name and click Next.
Note: You may be asked in to sign in. - Click Restart now or Restart later.
Note: Microsoft requires the PC / Server to be rebooted for this action to take effect. After rebooting, verify the Agent Name matches the Machine Name.

- Click Apple menu
> System Preferences > Sharing.
Note: If the lock at the bottom left is locked, click it to unlock the System Preferences panel.
- Type a new name in the Computer Name field.
- Click Apple menu

Modify device name
1. From the left-hand panel, click Devices, and click on the device that you want to rename. You can find your device by using filters, check our article to learn more about Filters.
The device page appears
2. Click on Edit, then Edit Device.
The Edit Device window will appear
3. Add your desired name in the Name field, and click on Apply. Now your device name will be updated.
