Activate ESET
After activating ESET PROTECT, you can immediately sync your Atera customers to it.
Note:
- Only admin users can activate ESET.
- In order to deploy the ESET agent to your end-user devices, you'll need to log into your ESET account, copy the 'ESET installer URL', and paste it into the associated field.
To activate ESET:
1. From App Center (on the sidebar), select ESET.
The ESET page appears.
2. Click Get started. The Activate ESET window appears.
3. Enter your email. Then click Activate.
4. Open your email.
Note:
- You may need to check your spam folder.
- The activation link will expire after 48 hours.
5. Click Activate your account.
You are redirected to the ESET MSP Administrator screen.
6. Enter the profile information for the ESET MSP Administrator account and agree to the ESET terms of use.
Note: The email address auto-populates with the email used to activate ESET within Atera. It cannot be edited.
7. Click CONTINUE.
Account activated! Click CLICK HERE TO SIGN IN.
8. Enter your email and password. Then click LOG IN.
The ESET MSP Administrator console appears.
The MSP Administrator console is where you'll add your companies and technicians. Once this is done, you'll be able to activate ESET PROTECT Cloud
MSP ADMINISTRATOR console
The ESET MSP ADMINISTRATOR console is where you'll add and manage your companies (sites/customers).
To add a company:
1. Log in to your ESET MSP ADMINISTRATOR account
2. From COMPANIES (on the sidebar), click + NEW CUSTOMER.
The New MSP customer wizard appears.
3. Enter the company details. Then click NEXT.
4. Select products to protect your company and enter the quantity (the number of seats). Then click NEXT.
Note:
- Select the quantity (number of seats) equal to the number of agent-installed devices you want to protect. You can always adjust the quantity at a later date if you need to protect more (or fewer) devices.
- Check TRIAL to activate a free, 30-day trial for the selected products.
- Once your trial period is complete, you will be billed based on the quantity (number of seats) activated. For more information, see Atera Subscription Information
5. Select technicians to view and manage the company. Then click NEXT.
Note:
- If you haven't yet added a technician, click CREATE USER. Learn more
- Technicians will receive an activation email to access the ESET MSP ADMINISTRATOR account.
6. Review your actions. Then click FINISH.
You are redirected to the COMPANIES page. You'll receive an in-app notification within ESET informing you that the protection plan license was ordered successfully. You can find all applied licenses in the Licenses tab.
Note: ESET LiveGuard Advanced results are shared with all computers within a customer. Please review and agree to the Terms of Use to continue.
Activate ESET PROTECT Cloud and ESET Inspect Cloud
Once you've created a company, you can activate ESET PROTECT Cloud and ESET Inspect Cloud. With ESET PROTECT Cloud, you can effectively manage and secure your networks. Additionally, ESET Inspect Cloud adds sophisticated detection and response capabilities, providing you with live insights into any suspicious activity happening across your devices.
To activate ESET PROTECT Cloud and ESET Inspect Cloud:
1. Enter the ESET MSP ADMINISTRATOR Dashboard.
2. Click ACTIVATE. The ESET PROTECT Cloud & ESET Inspect Cloud window appears.
3. Select the data center location.
Note: The data center location cannot be changed once ESET PROTECT Cloud & ESET Inspect Cloud have been activated.
4. Check the ESET agreement checkbox. Then click ACTIVATE.
It may take a few minutes to activate ESET PROTECT Cloud and ESET INSPECT Cloud.
Get the ESET installer URL
The ESET PROTECT CLOUD console is where you'll get your installer links. Enter this URL in the 'ESET installer URL field' to install ESET via Atera.
Note: ESET PROTECT Cloud's policies block Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connections by default. You can configure the agent installer to allow for RDP connections — check out our video tutorial!
To get and configure the ESET installer URL:
1. Log in to the ESET PROTECT CLOUD console
2. From Installers (on the sidebar), click CREATE INSTALLER.
3. Click Customize installer. The Create Installer wizard appears.
4. Enter the basic details:
- Ensure Security Product is enabled.
- Click Select (under Parent group) to apply the installer to a specific group.
- Select the group. Then click OK.
- Click CONTINUE.
5. Enter the product setup details:
- Select the product (under Security product).
- Accept the End User License Agreement
- Click Customize more settings to expand the settings.
Note: If you don't want to enable RDP, click Finish and go to step 13. - Click Create (under Configuration).
The New Policy wizard appears.
6. Enter the policy name (e.g., "Allow for RDP"). Then click CONTINUE.
7. Configure the policy settings:
- Ensure the correct product is selected.
- Go to NETWORK PROTECTION > Firewall > ADVANCED > Rules > Edit.
The Firewall rules window appears. - Click Add. The Add rule window appears.
8. Fill out fields in the General tab:
- Name: Enter the rule name (e.g., "Atera - RDP").
- Direction: Select In.
- Action: Select Allow.
- Protocol: Select TCP.
9. Fill out fields in the Local tab:
- Port: Enter the following port number: "3389". Then click OK.
The rule appears in the Firewall rules window.
10. Click OK.
The New Policy wizard appears.
11. Click FINISH.
The Create installer wizard appears.
12. Review the product setup. Then click FINISH.
The Distribution tab appears.
13. Copy the installer link. This is the link you need to paste into the 'ESET installer URL' field in Atera
14. Click FINISH.
The installer appears on the Installers page.

Troubleshoot
Why can't I remotely connect to my end-user devices?
ESET PROTECT Cloud's policies block Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connections by default. You can customize the installer configuration to allow for RDP connections. For more information, see this ESET article
