Our integrations with WinGet and Chocolatey (for Windows) and Homebrew (for macOS) make software installation simple and secure. You can install in just a few clicks without worrying about manual system requirements, hunting for the latest versions, or navigating through lengthy download and installation processes. Additionally, you can schedule automated software patching via WinGet, Chocolatey, or Homebrew
- To link your integrated repository to Atera, see Private software repository
- You can also upload your own .EXE/. MSI files to Atera and use it to install the software application on your devices.
Requirements and limitations
Chocolatey
- You may need to whitelist the following servers: chocolatey.org and packages.chocolatey.org.
- The Atera agent operates under the Local System account. As such, software installed on a per-user basis via Chocolatey will only be installed on the system user and will not be visible to other users.
- If you receive the error "429 Too Many Requests", you have triggered the rate limit, which is in place for 1 hour. If triggered again, it'll then be set for another hour. Learn more
- Atera does not utilize the chocolatey PS script installation method. This means that you will not be able to use choco commands in Command Prompt or PowerShell.
Homebrew
- Some Homebrew software patches require password authentication or have other permission requirements, and therefore cannot be installed via Atera currently. If this is the case, a message will appear to inform you of this.
- The Homebrew API integration via Atera makes use of Homebrew's Cask Tap (cask.json) only. This means that only software on Homebrew's 'Cask' list is available via Atera.
