Monitor Disk Activity
The highest active time is how busy your drive is processing read/write requests. So if you have a platter drive it could be the heads moving to read data etc. A good example is if you are reading highly fragmented files, then you would have a lot of activity but little throughput.
Note: Monitoring disk activity is available for Windows devices only.
1. From Admin (on the sidebar), click Thresholds.
The Threshold Profiles page appears.
2. Select the profile or add a new one. The threshold profile appears.
3. Click New item. The Threshold item window appears.
4. Fill out the threshold item parameters:
- Name: Enter the threshold item name (optional).
- Category: Select Disk Active Time.
- Alert severity: Select Information, Warning, or Critical.
- Percentage: Enter the percentage.
- Auto-healing script: Attach an auto-healing script (optional). Learn more
5. Click Add.
The item appears within your threshold profile, under Performance.

S.M.A.R.T disk monitoring
S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology; often written as "SMART") is a monitoring system included in computer hard disk drives (HDDs) and solid-state drives (SSDs). It detects and reports on various indicators of drive reliability, with the intent of enabling the anticipation of hardware failures.
When S.M.A.R.T. data indicates a possible imminent drive failure, software running on the host system can notify an Atera Agent so the stored data can be copied to another storage device, preventing data loss, and the failing drive can be replaced.
Important Note:
Atera monitoring supports the following SSD vendors and attributes only:

Event by Source
This feature allows monitoring of multi-part events in a single line. Please be aware that there is a 150-character limit when adding event IDs, Source Names, and Event IDs on the 'Event by Source' threshold item. "If you encounter source names or event IDs that exceed the 150-character limit, you can divide them among multiple threshold items.
To set up monitoring events by source:
- Category: Select Events by source.
- Source folder: Select the source folder.
- Event severity: Select Information, Warning, or Critical.
- Source Names or Event IDs: Enter the source names or event IDs you want to monitor. You can monitor multiple by separating them with commas. Learn more
