To schedule a script (or multiple scripts) to run automatically on a specific device, or on multiple end-user devices, you must first create or upload a script (or clone a script from the Shared Script Library). Afterwards, you can set up your scheduled automation by creating an automation profile.
Add scripts to an automation profile
To set up an automation profile:
1. Go to to Admin > Monitoring and Automation > Patch Management and IT Automation.
The Patch Management and IT Automation page appears.
2. Click Add Profile.
The Add Patch and IT Automation Profile window appears.
3. Enter a name for the profile, and click Save. The new profile is added.
The Edit Automation Profile screen appears. Here's where you'll set up your automation.
4. In the Scripts category, click Add script, to add a script.
The Select Script screen appears.
5. Find the script. Then click Select.
The script is added to the profile.
Note: You can attach multiple scripts to the profile by repeating the process. Additionally, you can clone a script from the Shared Script Library tab (it will appear as a selectable option with the My scripts tab).
6. Set the schedule by clicking on +Add schedule, and select the frequency at which the script should run.
Or, you can run the script immediately by clicking Run now. Additionally, you can check the checkbox to run the profile on all newly installed agents.
7. Click Save to save the automation profile.
Note: Having multiple profiles with the option "Run the profile on newly installed agents", on the same customer, can create conflicts when the profile runs on a newly installed agent. Make sure to use tasks that do not conflict with each other. In case you have scripts on each profile, make sure that both can run at the same time.
8. The last step is to apply the new IT automation profile to a customer or agent(s). Once this is done, the script will run on your customer devices as specified by the automation profile.
For general automation settings, see Patch and IT automations (settings for all profiles)
The settings allow you to run profiles on agents that appear online within a specific time frame after a profile has run on online devices. Additionally, you can block the installation of certain patches.
