Deactivate Webroot-protected endpoints when they are no longer in use. You can reactivate an endpoint later, if necessary. By deactivating an endpoint, you can free the license seat so you can install another endpoint in its place.
'Active' vs 'Activity' based billing
Active
If you activated Webroot licenses via Atera before November 3, 2024, you will be billed based on the maximum number of 'Active' devices you have during your billing cycle, regardless of their installation date or activity status. An 'Active' device is one on which the Webroot agent has been installed — using a given key code — that has not been deactivated in the Webroot management console. This means that even if you uninstall Webroot from an endpoint, that endpoint will still be counted as 'Active' until you deactivate it in your Webroot management console.
If you enabled DNS Protection via Atera before November 3, 2024, DNS Protection is applied at the site level. This means that it will be applied to all endpoints within that site.
If you enabled DNS Protection via Atera before November 3, 2024, DNS Protection is applied at the customer level. This means that it will be applied to all endpoints under that customer.
Activity
We are gradually moving our customers to 'Activity' based billing. If you activate your Webroot license via Atera after November 3, 2024, you will be billed based on the maximum 'Activity' level during your billing cycle. 'Activity' refers to the number of endpoints that have checked in to your Webroot management console within the last 30 days. If you issue a deactivate command from your console, the agent will be uninstalled from the chosen endpoint(s), and will no longer check into the console. After 30 days of inactivity, these endpoints will no longer be included in your 'Activity' level. The deactivate command expires after 14 days. If a given endpoint is offline and cannot check into the console during this time, it will not receive the deactivate command. This means that if it checks in after the 14-day window, it will be included in your 'Activity' level. If an active device has not checked into the console within the last 30 days, then it will not be included in the 'Activity' level for that month and will not be billed during that period.
If you enable DNS Protection via Atera after November 3, 2024, you will be billed based on the maximum number of DNS Protection 'Activity' you have during your billing cycle, as described above.

Deactivate endpoints
To ensure Webroot is properly deactivated from your endpoints, you'll first change the endpoint policy before deactivating the device(s) from the console.
To deactivate endpoints:
1. Log in to the Webroot management console
2. Under Manage > Entities, select the relevant site.
3. Select the endpoints you want to deactivate. Then click Change Policy.
The Change Policy Window appears.
4. Select Unmanaged from the Endpoint policy dropdown menu. Then click Change Policy.
5. Select the endpoints you want to deactivate. Now, select Deactivate Device from the Agent Commands drop-down menu.
Note: If you don't want to remove the endpoint from the Management Portal but still want to uninstall the agent software, you can send an Uninstall Agent command instead. This action retains the endpoint entry in the Webroot Management console (although it displays a status of "Not Seen" after 7 days).
6. A warning message appears, indicating that an uninstall command will be sent to the selected device.
7. Click Deactivate Device to confirm the command and proceed with the deactivation.
The agent will be uninstalled from the device when the device checks in. Deactivated devices are moved to the Deactivated Endpoints Group, accessible via the Endpoint Protection console
Uninstall Webroot through Atera
In case the uninstall command does not reach the endpoint, there are two options for removing Webroot SecureAnywhere through Atera.
If the Antivirus was installed through Atera, you can uninstall it from the Devices > Manage > Apps > Webroot > Uninstall:
Otherwise, you can uninstall Webroot directly on the local machine from Programs & Features, or by using the Uninstall Webroot script in Atera's Shared Script Library.
You can run the script immediately or automatically through an IT Automation profile.
Reactivate Webroot SecureAnywhere on endpoints
If you deactivate an endpoint by mistake and wish to reinstate it, you can reactivate it from the Deactivated Endpoints Group; accessible via the Endpoint Protection console.
To reactivate:
1. Log in to the Webroot management console
2. Select Sites List and click the Site where you want to reactivate a device.
3. Go to the Endpoint Protection tab and click Go to Endpoint Protection Console
4. In the Endpoint Protection console, click the Group Management tab. Then click the Deactivated Endpoints group to display the list of deactivated devices.
5. Check the box for the devices to reactivate. Then click Reactivate.
6. Once the endpoints are reactivated, you need to reinstall the Webroot agent to get them to report into the console and be fully protected. Make sure to assign a new policy if the Unmanaged policy has been selected.
Note: If you need to permanently remove endpoints from the Deactivated Endpoints group, please contact Webroot Technical Support
