App Center billing
Atera's unified subscription model is designed to simplify your billing process by consolidating all your App Center charges into one single invoice. The invoice is issued on the 10th of each month and includes any apps you've purchased via Atera, all visible in a detailed invoice breakdown. This model aims to provide you with a consistent, accurate, and efficient invoicing experience that is easier to manage.
Note:
- The unified subscription model is currently available for credit-card-paying customers who purchased Atera after July 12, 2023. If you purchased prior to July 12, 2023, you will continue to be billed on your activation date. If you purchased after July 12, 2023, you will be billed on the 10th of each month for the previous months usage.
- The unified subscription does not apply to the main Atera subscription or to Network Discovery. These charges will continue to be billed monthly according to their date of purchase.
- Currently, it is not possible to change the billing date for the unified subscription model from the 10th of the month.
- To view your usage for the addons within the unified subscription, navigate to Admin > Subscription > Invoices. Look for the unified subscription invoice, which is sent on the 10th of each month. There, you will be able to see all the details related to your addons within the unified subscription model.
On the 10th of each month, you will receive a consolidated invoice for your Atera subscription, which includes any apps activated and purchased through Atera. This invoice covers usage-based subscriptions (both maximum and billable usage) based on the calendar month.
For our customers with a unified subscription, if you purchase an app at any point during the month, you will be charged on the 10th of the following month for your usage. This ensures that all your apps are aligned with one billing cycle and are conveniently included in your monthly invoice. You can review your App Center billing history at any time from Admin > Subscription > Invoices.
For more information on your App Center invoice, click Invoice breakdown. This will display a detailed breakdown of your invoice, itemized by each product/service within your subscription to provide you with full transparency. For added convenience, you can download the invoice breakdown as a CSV file for easy record-keeping and analysis.

'Active' based billing
If you activated Webroot licenses via Atera before November 3, 2024, you will be billed based on the maximum number of 'Active' devices you have during your billing cycle, regardless of their installation date or activity status. An 'Active' device is one on which the Webroot agent has been installed — using a given key code — that has not been deactivated in the Webroot management console. This means that even if you uninstall Webroot from an endpoint, that endpoint will still be counted as 'Active' until you deactivate it in your Webroot management console.
If you activated DNS Protection via Atera before November 3, 2024, DNS Protection is applied at the site level. This means that it will be applied to all endpoints within that site.
If you activated DNS Protection via Atera before November 3, 2024, DNS Protection is applied at the customer level. This means that it will be applied to all endpoints under that customer.
For accurate billing, please ensure that the Webroot software has been completely removed from each chosen device.
'Activity' based billing
We are gradually moving our customers to 'Activity' based billing. If you activate your Webroot license via Atera after November 3, 2024, you will be billed based on the maximum 'Activity' level during your billing cycle. 'Activity' refers to the number of endpoints that have checked in to your Webroot management console within the last 30 days. If you issue a deactivate command from your console, the agent will be uninstalled from the chosen endpoint(s), and will no longer check into the console. After 30 days of inactivity, these endpoints will no longer be included in your 'Activity' level. The deactivate command expires after 14 days. If a given endpoint is offline and cannot check into the console during this time, it will not receive the deactivate command. This means that if it checks in after the 14-day window, it will be included in your 'Activity' level. If an active device has not checked into the console within the last 30 days, then it will not be included in the 'Activity' level for that month and will not be billed during that period.
If you activate DNS Protection via Atera after November 3, 2024, you will be billed based on the maximum number of DNS Protection 'Activity' you have during your billing cycle, as described above.
If you have any questions about your subscription or billing, please contact your customer success manager or support.
