Custom Assets

Create asset types and add your assets to manage your unmonitored devices.

Note: Custom Assets are available for the Expert, Master, and Enterprise plans.

Asset types

Asset types categorize your assets, making tracking, managing, and auditing assets easier. Once an asset type is created, you can add assets to it. 
Note:

• Admin users can create asset types. Learn more
  • Expert plan users can create up to 5 asset types. Master plan users can create up to 20 asset types. Enterprise plan users have no limit.
  • Growth plan users can create up to 5 asset types. Power plan users can create up to 20 asset types. Superpower plan users have no limit.
• Asset types are listed in alphabetical order within the Asset types tab.

Asset fields

Asset fields provide supplementary information about an asset to simplify management and tracking. Each asset type comes with fixed default fields that cannot be altered or removed (Asset name, Description, Site, Folder, and User). You can also add and manage your own custom fields (e.g., Purchase Date, Link, Condition).
Note:

• Admin users can create asset fields.
  • There is no limit to the number of asset fields you can create.
• Asset fields are listed in alphabetical order within the Asset fields tab.

Create asset types and fields

To create an asset type:

1. From Admin (on the sidebar), click Custom Assets.

The Custom Assets page appears.

2. Click New asset type.

3. Enter the asset type name (top left of page).
Note: Each asset type contains required default fields, which cannot be edited or removed. We recommend adding your own asset fields to include more details about your assets. To create the asset type without adding your own custom fields, go to step 9.

4. Click New field. The Create asset field window appears.

5. Enter the field title.

6. Select the field type from the dropdown menu:

• Text*: Select to add text.
• Multi-line text: Select to add multiple lines of text. Tap the Enter key to skip lines.
• Number*: Select to add a number.
• Date: Select to add a date (format is DD/MM/YYYY). 
• Checkbox: Select to add a checkbox. 
• Dropdown*: Select to add a dropdown list. Click the plus symbol to add the required values.
• Link: Select to add links.
• Password: Select to add passwords.

Note:

• Field types marked with an asterisk (*) require a default value.
• Once created, the asset field type cannot be edited.

7. Check the Required box if you want to set this as a required field.

8. Click Create.
Note: To continue adding asset fields, click Create > Create and add another.

The new asset field appears within the asset type template (at the bottom). You can manage the asset field from the Asset fields tab on the Custom Assets page.

9. Click Create (top right of page).

Your new asset type appears on the Custom Assets page.

Add assets

Once you've created asset types, it's time to start adding assets. You can add assets from the Custom Assets page or from the Site page > Assets tab.

Add assets from the Custom Assets page

To add assets from the Custom Assets page:

1. From Admin (on the sidebar), click Custom Assets.

The Custom Assets page appears.

2. Click the Actions dropdown on the asset type. Then select Add asset.

The Create Asset page appears.

3. Fill out the default asset fields: 

• Asset name: This field is required for all added assets.
• Description
• Site: This field is required for all added assets.
• Customer: This field is required for all added assets.
• Folder: This field is disabled until the site is selected.
• Folder: This field is disabled until the customer is selected.
• User: This field is disabled until the site is selected.
• Contact: This field is disabled until the customer is selected.

4. Fill out any custom fields you may have.

5. Click Create.
