This article will outline the differences between Splashtop and Anydesk. They are the remote tools that come with the Atera subscription and do not require you to purchase them from Splashtop or Anydesk directly.
AnyDesk
AnyDesk provides secure and reliable remote access for supporting your customers anywhere, anytime. AnyDesk can be used on Windows or Mac OS devices to connect to all your customers' Windows and Mac devices.
It is available for Growth and Power subscriptions for the Atera MSP product, and for the IT Department product, it's available for Expert and Master.
With Anydesk you always have unlimited concurrent sessions. Remote into as many devices as you want, without any restrictions. Besides unlimited remote sessions, up to three people can remote into a device at any given time.
By default, Anydesk is set to Unattended access, but this option can be changed. Check our AnyDesk article, which shows how you can change the access for AnyDesk. Servers will always have unattended access, only workstations can have attended access.
Some built-in functions of AnyDesk:
- Screen Recording and Screen Capture
- Chat feature
- The ability to Transfer files from one device to another
- Whiteboard
- Keyboard and mouse control
You can open multiple windows in order to monitor multiple screens belonging to the same end user, this way, you don’t have to toggle between all the end user’s screens.
Splashtop
Our Splashtop integration enables you to provide instant remote support for your customers anywhere, anytime. Securely connect to remote computers, access files, and applications, and troubleshoot problems without having to leave your desk.
It is available for all packages. On the Pro and Professional package, you can have up to two concurrent sessions, which means that each technician on your account can remote into two different devices at the same time.
On Growth/Expert and Power/Master, you have unlimited concurrent sessions. Remote into as many devices as you want at any point.
By default Splashtop has unattended access, meaning you can remote in without the end user having to approve. You have the ability to run a script from the Shared Script Library, the script will make it attended access for any security concerns. Good idea to run this on newly installed agents if they want all access to be attended. Check out our article Splashtop Attended Access - Request Permission to Connect Remotely
Only one person can remote into any given device at a time, meaning only one technician at a time or if an end user is using Work from Home then that is counted as a remote session and a technician won't be able to connect to the device.
Some built-in functions of Splashtop:
- Chat feature
- The ability to Transfer files from one device to another
- Keyboard and mouse control
Splashtop does not have the ability to view multiple screens at once, you can only toggle between the available screens.
Having both Anydesk and Splashtop is a great way to manage your devices since you have the ability to run concurrent sessions with both Anydesk and Splashtop simultaneously on the same device. Allowing multiple technicians to work on an issue, or manage the device.
Splashtop SOS
Splashtop SOS is one of two remote support tools that Atera offers through Splashtop. Splashtop SOS is used for attended remote support(end-user is required to be at their computer), whereas the standard Splashtop remote support tool offers unattended remote support.
You can purchase SplashtopSOS, by contacting Splashtop directly. Splashtop SOS can be used with Atera to remote into devices that DON’T have the Atera Agent.
